From this Scout:
Eagle Scout Project, I Need the Bicycles You No Longer Want
For my Eagle Project I am soliciting donations of used bikes suitable for children or adults. I am a Life Rank Boy Scout, and my project includes refurbishing the donated bicycles and delivering them to the Alpha House of Ann Arbor. These bikes will be used by the families temporarily living at the Alpha House, as well as distributed to alumni families of the Alpha House. I have been in scouting for over seven years, and am eager to achieve the rank of Eagle, please consider helping me with this.

Update

Hello Troop 7,

We had an excellent campout at Camp Munhacke. The weather was perfect. Many of the Scouts enjoyed whiffleball, throwing footballs, and just hanging out whittling or fire-building. Several also worked on their cooking merit badge.

Monday, September 15 is a regular troop meeting, not a PLC. Also mark your calendars for the first Monday in October as our Fall Court of Honor, meaning you have just enough time to get items signed off, and both Scoutmaster and Board of Reviews planned.

September event and PLC meeting

Hello Troop 7,

We are likely to change our September event due to a school conflict which affects our older Scout leaders. Two possible dates are being looked at– the weekend of September 13th or the weekend of October 4th. Stay tuned for more information.

In addition, we will be having a PLC meeting this week (time and place TBD) to discuss the event and first few meetings. Feel free to join us.

Otherwise, I look forward to seeing all our Scouts at our first meeting on September 8th, 7:30 PM.

Schedule changes

Hello Troop 7,

Our next event, is the Emergency Services Camporee.  Initially it looked like we would not be able to go due to a school conflict that prevented our older leadership from going, but fortunately the school calendar has changed.  September 26 -28.  Get ready for some exciting events, and a chance to earn some patches in the five categories (Police, Fire, Search and Rescue, EMS, and Community Emergency Response).

Two, to eliminate any school conflict with Solo & Ensemble, we will be moving our much-anticipated ski trip to the first weekend of midwinter break (February 13 to February 15) .  Please mark your calendars.

Looking forward to a great year.

PLC Planning Meeting Monday July 28

Hello Troop 7

We have a PLC planning meeting on Monday July 28.  I’ve spoken to many of the Scouts about what activities they are hoping to do next year.  Here are the results, in order of the level of excitement I heard–

1.   A Northern Michigan Ski Trip

2.  Backpacking, possibly with two levels of expertise

3.  Camping (of course!!!)

Looking forward to meeting with our leaders and filling in the calendar.

Also, if you have a tent which needs to be returned, this is a good opportunity to do so.

Troop 7 Scoutmaster

Hello,  I am the new Scoutmaster for Troop 7 in Ann Arbor.  I invite you to check our troop out–we meet Monday nights during the school year at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Ann Arbor.  Our monthly trips this past year included White Water Rafting on the New River in WV, bicycling, kayaking, shooting sports (rifles, archery, and shotgun), and of course Summer Camp–this 2104 at Camp Gerber.

We had 4 Eagle Scouts this past year, and pride ourselves in boy-led leadership and advancement.  We currently have about 30 active youth Scouts.

Please feel free to email me for more information.
