Our backpacking trip is this coming weekend, November 7th and 8th. It will be at Huron National Forest. Tonight’s meeting will be meal planning and preparation.

PLC and Troop Meeting
Hello Troop 7,
We will be having a PLC (Patrol Leaders’ Council) meeting today at 7:00 pm. We will be reviewing how our Haunted Woods Campout went and we will be planning upcoming events. We will then have a regular troop meeting at 7:30 pm. If you can arrive early, please come at 6:50 pm to help dry out tarps from our Haunted Woods Campout.

Haunted Woods Campout

The Haunted Woods Campout we are going on is from October 23 October 25. We will be meeting at Village Kitchen at 6:00pm on Friday, October 23.

Hello Troop 7,
After our campout this weekend, we will be going to the Scio Township Halloween Party at the Zeeb Road Fire Station. We will helping them do set up, run games, and do cleanup. Scouts should arrive at 12:30 for setup.
The following campout will be Backpacking up North in Huron National Forest. We will leave early Saturday, November 7, and come home Sunday, November 8.

Fall Schedule

I hope everyone had a good start to school. I‘m looking forward to seeing everyone in our troop again.
Our first meeting is Monday, September 14, at 7:30 PM in the Social Hall. Our first trip is scheduled for Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27. We will be canoeing and camping on the Huron River.

September Events
Hello Troop 7,
Here is an outline of the events which were planned for September. Dates and times may change, and more details will be sent out.
9/14/2015: 1st Meeting
We will start by doing the flag ceremony, followed by a presentation on how to make survival bracelets using paracord. Everyone will be able to make one. If there is time left, we will play a game. Everyone should try to return tents and other gear to the troop as soon as possible.
9/21/2015: 2nd Meeting
We do the flag ceremony as normal, and have a presentation on camping and boating. We will then plan our meals for the September campout.
9/25/2015-9/27/2015: September Campout
We are planning to do a campout which involves camping and boating.

Backpacking Trip
Hello Troop 7,
Here is a report on how our backpacking trip went:
We backpacked in the Hoist Lakes Foot-Travel Area. We hiked a total of 6 miles, and camped on Byron Lake. As with all adventures in the wild, we learned some new things. We learned how to remove a tick, along with how to remove a leech. We slept through heavy rain, and hiked out on a wet morning. We all had a blast.
Eagle Scout Project Moved to Friday
Due to weather, we will be moving the Eagle Scout Project to Friday, June 19th, at 10:00am.

We are looking for 5-10 volunteers for an Eagle Scout Project. We will be creating an 80 foot compass rose for Jackson County Airport. It will be happening this Friday, June 19th, at 3606 Wildwood Avenue, Jackson Michigan, 49202 (Jackson County Airport) at 10:00 am. If you would like to help, email Benjamin.

Spring Court of Honor
Hello Troop 7,
Our Court of Honor is this Sunday, May 31st, starting at 5:00 PM. The assigned Scouts will begin cooking at 4:00 PM.
We will be meeting at South Lillie Park, at the pavilion near the playground.
Please bring either a side dish or dessert (your choice). Our Scouts will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. If you have no idea of what to bring, just bring drinks and disposable cups.
Also please plan to bring your mess kits, especially if you are a Scout. We will have some paper plates and utensils on hand.
It has been a good year–I hope to see you all this Sunday as we celebrate our Scout’s accomplishments.

Memorial Day Weekend Biking Trip
Hello Troop 7,
Our next trip will be our Memorial Day Weekend Biking Trip. We will meet at Village Kitchen on Saturday the 23rd. We will leave Village Kitchen at 9:30 am, and start driving to East Harbor State Park in Ohio. We will bike on both Saturday and Sunday, and arrive back on Sunday night.
Here is our current plan:
Saturday
9:30 am – Leave Village Kitchen for East Harbor State Park
11:30 am – Arrive at East Harbor State Park
12:00 pm – Have lunch and set up campsite
2:00 pm – Leave from our campsite on first bike ride (About 16 miles)
3:00 pm – Arrive at a lighthouse on the way
5:00 pm – Finish bike ride and return to campsite
Sunday
10:00 am – Leave for Fremont, Ohio (20 min ride)
10:30 am – Start biking (We will have two groups, one which rides 13 miles, and one which rides 26 miles)
12:00 pm – Eat lunch at Elmore (13 miles from starting point)
1:30 pm – Experienced riders will finish ride back to Fremont
1:45 pm – Vehicles will pick up inexperienced riders in Elmore
2:00 pm – Return to campsite
