September Campout

Hello Troop 7,

This weekend will be our first campout of the new school year! We will be biking (9 Miles) or hiking (1 Mile) to our campground from the JC Penny Parking Lot in Brighton (Green Oak Village Place).

During the day, we will work on working on scout skills, including cooking and working with our new equipment. We will then spend the night, and return on Sunday.

If you are attending, please bring the payment and permission slip to the campout with you. For more information, please reference either the permission slip or the email sent out on Tuesday.

First Meeting

Hello Troop 7,

This Monday (September 10th) will be our first meeting of the school year. We will be holding a Court of Honor so that we can award merit badges and ranks earned at Summer Camp.

The meeting starts at 7:30 like normal, and will be at First Presbyterian Church.

Please see the email that was sent out for food assignments.

Rock Climbing

Hello Troop 7,

On June 9th, we will be going to Planet Rock for rock climbing. You must be at least 14 years old (so that you can belay other scouts). If you have never climbed at Planet Rock, you will also need to complete a short class on how to belay others.

It will last from 1:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon.

April Canoe Trip

Hello Troop 7,

This weekend, we will being having a canoeing campout. We will be canoeing down the Huron River and spending a night at Hudson Mills. The permission slip was sent out by email.

Make sure to attend tonight’s meeting if you are planning to come.

December Event

Hello Troop 7,

On December 2nd, we are having our monthly event.  We will be bell ringing for Salvation Army at 1:00 pm at Nickels Arcade.  Following this, we will be playing Whirley Ball.

Leaf Raking Service Project

Hello Troop 7,

On Saturday, November 18th, we will be raking leaves at First Presbyterian for a service project.  It will last from 8:00 to 12:00.

If you are available, please come!  This is our way of showing thanks to the church for letting us use their space for our meetings.

Backpacking Campout

Hello Troop 7,

This weekend, we are going up to Hoist Lakes for a backpacking trip.  We will be hiking in about two miles with all of our gear, and then camping for the night.

At the last meeting, we handed out tents, stoves, and cooking equipment to the patrols.  When you are packing your own gear, keep in mind the following:

  • There is going to be a high of 34 degrees and a low of 28, with one inch of snow expected on Saturday.
  • Make sure to pack all the food you are carrying in a Ziploc bag.

Also, here is a packing list of some of the gear you will need:

  • Backpack
  • Warm Sleeping Bag and Ground Mat
  • Tent, Stove, and Cookware (Arranged at previous meeting)
  • Warm Clothes, Including a Hat, Gloves, and Rain Gear
  • Flashlight

Monday’s Meeting

Hello Troop 7,

This Monday will be the last meeting this school year.  We will be meeting at the Fuller Park Pool.

From 7:00 – 8:00 pm, we will be doing our physical fitness requirement, since this will be  our fourth week since starting.  Please bring the plan you made at the beginning and the log of your exercise.

From 8:00 – 9:00 pm, we will be doing the swim test for summer camp.  Please bring $4 for entry to the pool.  If the weather is bad, we will need to cancel, but currently it looks like it won’t rain.

Troop 7 Silent Auction

Troop 7 is having its first ever silent auction on May 22nd.  The silent auction is going to help us raise funds for repairing the trailer.  More details will come soon.

Biking Campout

Hello Troop 7,

Our biking campout is next weekend!  We will be biking about 14 or 15 miles, and possibly more for scouts who are interested.  We will begin the ride at Barton Nature Area and end at Hudson Mills Metropark.

This biking trip will also meet a requirement for the cycling merit badge.  If you are interested in doing the merit badge, come to the meeting tomorrow for more information.

Upcoming Meetings

Troop 7,
Our next two troop meetings are important, and we would like everyone to attend.  Here are the details:
  • February 27th – We will be holding the Order of the Arrow election.
  • March 6th – We will be holding the SPL election.  In addition, new patrols will be made, and patrol leaders will be elected.

Scout Sunday

Troop 7,

This Sunday the 26th is Scout Sunday. On this day, we thank the church for their continued support with our troop.  Please plan on arriving at 9:00 am for early service or 10:30 am for late service.
